Green Mountain Main Ski Run

Trail Description:

Green Mountain is an amazing place to go any time of year. Being further away from the water, the old ski hill is covered in snow a good portion of the year. In the late spring and summer you can find bright green ferns and wildflowers bursting from the ground.

From the Green Mountain parking lot, hike along the wide road with dips in it heading north. You'll cross a stream and see a large open area heading up to the right. Head to the top left corner of the meadow and throw the trees. You'll end up one of the old service roads. You can follow this road up or head slightly left and hit one of the old ski runs. Head straight up from here until you hit the summit. The summit is on a plateau that gets a bit steeper right near the top.

Be sure to take photos north, east, south and west as they are all beautiful views!

Note: One or more of the gates at the end of Nanaimo Lakes Road are often closed. You'll need to go when the gates are open, typically during the summer.

Directions to Trailhead:
Head to the gate on Nanaimo Lakes Road. You'll only be able to access Green Mountain when these gates are open. There are 3 gates and one is often closed. Once you're past the gate follow the road until you hit the bridge with the painted rock, turn left and go over the river, once again following the road. Stay on the main road until you see K branch leading off to the left and up the hill. There is a small white sign on the tree at the fork. Keep the right forks aiming for the dip just to the south of Green Mountain. Here you will take a fork to the left and park in the wide open area when the road starts to be dug out. (You can take a left at this fork and go to Gemini Mountain just to the south).
